At Belmont Abbey College, student success is at the heart of our mission — and Lachlan Laner’s journey exemplifies how we help students discover their calling, pursue excellence, and reach new heights both in and beyond the classroom.
After transferring from Austin Peay State University, Lachlan found a home at Belmont Abbey, where he pursued a degree in Data Analytics and competed on the men’s tennis team, helping secure three consecutive conference titles. In addition to his athletic achievements, he served as a research committee leader in the Investment Club, further developing his analytical and leadership skills.
Belmont Abbey supported Lachlan’s ambition to expand his learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. Through our partnership with Acadeum, Lachlan earned an IBM certification that complemented his academic program and underscored his commitment to professional growth.
This credential proved pivotal in his post-graduation success. As Lachlan noted, the certification became “the icing on the cake” in job interviews, helping him stand out among candidates with more experience. His combination of academic rigor, athletic discipline, and continuous learning ultimately led him to his current role as a Sales Development Representative for Strategic Accounts at Elasticsearch, a leading search AI company.
