Catherine Savisky, Director of Counseling Services

Cathy joined the Abbey in February 2018 as the new head of Counseling Services. She is originally from Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Her undergraduate is from Marshal University and she attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina.

She has 32 years of experience “helping people” in many different settings, including hospitals, the workplace, and schools. Her last position was Clinical Access Lead for emergency behavioral health located at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Since coming to Belmont Abbey she is most looking forward to “the opportunity to be a vessel of God’s love by listening and helping ease the burden students carry day to day.”

To people who are reluctant to seek counseling, she says “sounseling is meeting the person where they are when they enter our office. Everyone deals with life stressors that cause us emotional pain. Reaching out for help and counseling is a sign of strength and love we give to ourselves.”

Aside from couseling, she loves her Catholic faith,  and her children and family. She is also passionate about travel and the outdoors.
