Belmont Abbey’s Volunteer Connect Brings Local Needs to Students Seeking to Serve

This past Saturday, September 14, Belmont Abbey College held its first annual Volunteer Connect event. The event brought local organizations on campus to invite students to discover ways they can give back to our local community. The event, organized by student Anja Roy, director of campus ministry Patrick Ford and director of Student Development and Engagement Ali Bahr, had an amazing turn out from volunteer organizations and students. Potential volunteers were overwhelmed with interesting presentations and opportunities. The event included representatives from
· Habitat for Humanity

· Open Arms Ministry

· Missionaries of the Poor,

· Special Olympics

· Catherine’s House,

· Shining Hope Farms

· Bit of Hope Ranch

· The Humane Society

· HEART Tutoring

· Gaston Boys and Girls Club

· MiraVia,

· and many more!

The day’s festivities also included a live musical performance from the Abbey’s newly formed band, Judges and Viewers. Students had the opportunity to learn more about each volunteer opportunity and left the event with a ton of great information, trinkets for the road and big smiles on their faces.
