APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:
Approval of the minutes 1 st Emily Toy, 2 nd Earle Maxwell. Minutes approved by majority.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Project Reports
1. Sponsored Meal- Monica Davis- Her and Dustin Cherry are still waiting confirmation from several restaurants. They still see the sponsored meal as a possibility even though there is a limited amount of time remaining to work out the particulars.
2. St. Patrick’s Day- Stefanie Whorton- Present time constraints have prevented this project from being properly organized. There will be no SGA sponsored parade.
B. Student Survey- This item will be tabled until 3/22/06 .
C. SGA Constitution- Motion(s) made last meeting- Motion to vote on March 15, 2006 for the adoption of Article IV of the SGA constitution as it was recommended by the ad hoc SGA constitution committee 1 st Janna Ruffner 2 nd Earle Maxwell. Motion to vote for the adoption of Article IV of the SGA constitution as it was recommended by the ad hoc SGA constitution committee 1 st Emily Toy, 2 nd Liz Janson. 2/3 of SGA not present. Motion to table the SGA constitutional amendment votes until the March 22, 2006 meeting 1 st Emily Toy, 2 nd Earle Maxwell. The SGA meeting next week will be rescheduled until 6pm to allow for needed attendance. Stefanie Whorton will send out an email to remind us of our next meeting’s time change. We must have 2/3 of the SGA seats present in order to pass the proposed constitutional amendments.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Executive Board Elections- Stefanie Whorton passed out election schedules and requested for volunteers to fill up the positions open on the “SGA elections to do list.” We decided on voting times- Holy grounds 10:30am-11:15am , Student Commons 12:00pm-1:00pm . We shall meet with the candidates at 5:45pm on March 22, 2006 to encourage them and answer any questions that they may have.
B. Academic Affairs Committee – Emily Toy informed us of the college’s newly announced degrees RN, BSN, and communications minor. Also the committee announced the new Honors Institute and several new math courses.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Reminder- Student Forum with Dr. Thierfelder- Wednesday, March 29 th, 12:30pm , Mezzanine.
***Next week’s meeting will begin at 6:00pm .
Expanding SGA- Mark Blair offered SGA some suggestions for next semester. SGA Motto, Sponsored meal to be held on election day – this will make SGA elections a bigger event, School Mascots, Fund Raise More, Panel forum similar to a school board meeting which is a cultural credit event, and an early discussion about SGA to the new freshman next fall.
