What is the Co-Curricular Program?

The Co-Curricular program is a new program on campus developed to replace the Cultural Credit program. Students who wish to participate in the program will be asked to complete a number of activities within four categories of Mind, Body, Spirit and Service. Those who are able to complete the program requirements will receive an incentive that will benefit them in the coming year.

Will student be fined for not complete the Co-Curricular program?

No. The main reason for developing a program completely separate from the cultural credit program, was to get away from the negative fines stucture of the program. Instead, students that choose to complete the program will receive an incentive for the effort they put in to the program.

What are the incentives?

We are still working on finalizing the incentives we will offer. We can assure you the incentives will be worth the effort you will be putting forth to complete the program. A number of options have been considered and we will have a final incentive list soon.

Do we have to carry around a cultural credit card anymore?

No, students will use their BAC Student ID to swipe into each event that counts toward the program. Make sure you have your student ID on you at all times. For programs that are not affiliated with the college, you can bring in a program with the date of your attendance. You must turn in the program and swipe your card to receive credit.

Who oversees the program?

The Co-Curricular program is being monitored by three of the Student Life professional staff. Erin Nelson (Mind and Service), Tony Barrett (Body) and Patrick Ford (Spirit) will each be overseeing a specific area of the program. If you have questions about any of the areas, see the respective monitor.

How much time is required for the program?

The amount of time it will take each person to complete the program will vary, as different events take up different amounts of time. The categories are measured on a yearly basis and you must complete a total of 6 activities under each category, totaling 18 events for the year. This may seem like a lot, but if you look at the list of counted activities, you probably do a lot of them on your own as is. The service portion does have a 10 hour minimum per semester and can be lessened to 5 hours in the spring by completing a supplemental 5 page reflection paper.
