Belmont Abbey College Offers Students a Helping Hand
College Hosts GET READY Event Preparing For Fall 2005

July 26, 2005

BELMONT, NC --- The end of summer is near… and that has students everywhere getting ready to head back to class.

As students prepare for the fall semester, Belmont Abbey College is hosting a special event to make the transition (and paperwork) a bit easier.

The Abbey will hold a special 2-day event on campus called, “GET READY” on Friday, July 29 (3-7:00 PM) and Saturday, July 30, (9:00 AM-1:00 PM) 2005.

The GET READY program is specifically designed to meet the needs of freshman and transfer students who may be in search of additional assistance in preparing for the fall semester. Students who bring their high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores will get the opportunity to meet with the Abbey’s admission counselors and financial aid specialists to get information and receive instant decisions on their application status. Students will also get an advance opportunity in registering for classes, selecting a roommate, and applying for student IDs, parking passes and other services.

“Basically this event is intended for students who have not completed the admission process or somehow missed the deadline for admission,” says Anne Stevens, dean of enrollment management and director of financial aid at Belmont Abbey College. “We’re catering this event to meet the needs of these students and help them in making all the necessary preparations to start attending classes in August.”

GET READY will inform incoming students about Belmont Abbey College’s enhanced scholarship program and opportunities, expanded athletic program with a new of new teams, renovated classrooms and its academic departments and new course offerings. The Abbey will also be the home of HOLY GROUNDS, a new café/coffeehouse serving STARBUCKS coffee and Wi-Fi hotspot for students and faculty, which will officially open this fall.
