Professor, White House Advisor Scheduled to Discuss Faith & Politics Berry College’s Dr. Peter Lawler Featured Speaker for The Bradley Institute, Belmont Abbey College
BELMONT, NC --- He is one of a handful of leading scientists, doctors, social scientists, theologians and other experts who has the President’s ear.
In fact, whenever President Bush needs some advice on bioethical matters – from stem cell research to human genetics – all he has to do is turn to Berry College’s Dr. Peter Lawler and other members of the President's Council on Bioethics.
Established in January of 2002, The Council not only studies the broader ethical and social issues associated with research and biomedical technologies, but also provides the White House with assistance and guidance when it comes to developing policy on such issues.
The Bradley Institute for the Study of Christian Culture and Belmont Abbey College’s Hintemeyer Program for Catholic Leadership will host a presentation by Dr. Peter Lawler, a member of the President’s Council on Bioethics, entitled, “Faith and Politics Today,” on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 7:30 PM in the Student Commons at Belmont Abbey College. The event is free and open to the public.
