One Las Vegas man combines racing, religion and rectitude to achieve dream

Jace Meier is on a vision quest. His began when he was a small child and he took his first spin in a go-kart.

Few know by grade school exactly what they will do as adults. Fewer still accomplish those early goals. Meier is one of those very few.

The 18-year-old is attending college in North Carolina. He periodically makes his way home to race in NASCAR late-model events on the West Coast. He experienced tire trouble during the recent Fall Classic at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring. He sat just behind pole position at the beginning of one of the late model races and had a shot at winning if not for the tires. He finished 21st.

The school even sponsored his car for his LV race.
