Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse coach Shaun Williamson was named the 2008 National Coach of the Year, and junior defender Theresa Nolan earned a s on the second team according to WomensLacrosse.com, which was announced today.

Williamson, who started the program in 2006, led the Abbey to a 12-7 record overall and a 7-3 mark in Conference Carolinas, finishing second in the league standings after they were picked to finish fourth. The 12 wins are a school record, besting the previous mark by four which was set after the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The Abbey finished the season winning five of its last six games as it earned a s in the Conference Carolinas Tournament final for the first time in the program's three-year history. In his three years, he has produced five all-conference selections, one Freshman of the Year and one All-America selection.
