The College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Sport Management and Motorsports Management beginning August, 2012. The Sport Management program has seen tremendous growth in the last three years, particularly in the number of declared majors and the number of topical class offerings. Moreover, the Motorsports Management program has been reorganized recently to meet the needs of this fast changing industry. Both programs have benefitted from the rich diversity of premiere sport organizations in the Charlotte region. Student internships, field trips, scholarly opportunities and guest lecturers have all contributed to the growth and depth of the program.
A PhD or appropriate terminal degree in Sport Management or a related field and teaching experience are required. Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach in the areas of sport finance, motorsport finance, motorsport marketing and sponsorship, and sport/motorsport facilities. Related industry experience and a continuing record of or potential for scholarly development is also highly desirable.
Responsibilities include classroom teaching, student advising, College service, and the development of industry and community relationships. A four course per semester teaching load, appropriate scholarly development and support of the College’s mission is expected. A familiarity with and understanding of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and of the liberal arts are desirable. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's credentials and experience.
