Multimedia Specialist – Instructional Technologist

Responsibilities
The Multimedia Specialist – Instructional Technologist provides program development, technology research, and troubleshooting support to the campus community. This newly created position has primary responsibility for the investigation, selection, and implementation of instructional and multimedia technologies in classroom and computer labs and their integration with other information management systems. This individual will facilitate college-wide advancement of instructional technology and multimedia applications, working closely with faculty, students, library personnel, the college’s webmaster, various faculty committees, the Office of the Registrar, and other staff. Additionally, working closely with other’s in Information Technology the incumbent will assist in the development and implementation of campus-wide information technology controls and procedures to safeguard College assets and resources.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years IT experience and 1-3 years teaching/training experience. This includes web and multimedia programming experience (e.g. Dreamweaver, ASP/.NET, HTML, Photoshop), experience using digital technologies and software (Podcasting, Real), experience with Course Management Applications, and collaboration tools or comparable combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills are required. The position requires a broad understanding of higher education academic computing systems and technology trends and in-depth experience with media and web-enabled services. Experience in the creation and support of multimedia and interactive digital material used in instruction and teaching or training experience is highly desirable. Additionally, experience with SCT PowerCampus/IQ Web, Microsoft SharePoint Portal or Microsoft Communication Server is highly desirable. The Multimedia Specialist – Instructional Technologist must have the ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 50 lbs. This position will involve an adjusted schedule to allow evening and weekend work. The work load is cyclic and may require overtime and flexibility.
