Roger Jones

Born in Erie , Pennsylvania , Roger spent the majority of
his “growing pains” years in Erie , but his more formative teenage
years were spent in the Carolinas as a Marine Corps dependent. He lived at both
Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and at Camp Lejeune before graduating from
Jacksonville High School . A graduate of Pembroke State University (now The University
of North Carolina at Pembroke), he continued his time there as an Admissions
Representative and Counselor. He has also served as an Assistant Director at
UNC Charlotte as well as a recruiter at Central Piedmont Community College .
Roger is very active within the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars
and Admissions Officers. However, the most important daily tasks he has are being
a husband to his wife Lori, and a father to his daughter Brenna.

Sharon Johns

Sharon began working at the Abbey in July of 2006. She is
also a self-employed artist and has had her own business, DreamStar Designs,
for twenty years. Recently she has sculpted replicas of historic local buildings,
including one of the Abbey Basilica.
When not sculpting or doing data entry, Sharon enjoys photography and international
travel. In the last ten years she has island hopped in Greece and explored museums
and churches in Italy , as well as other countries in Europe . She has climbed Machu Picchu in Peru and ridden a camel near the pyramids in Egypt. She is especially
interested in Southeast Asian culture and and her favorite trip included Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam .
Sharon has a BA in History and Art from Gardner-Webb University and has lived in Belmont for the past twelve years.

Catherine Mobley

Catherine “Cat” Mobley is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina which is fifteen minutes from the city of Belmont. She graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School in 2003. Following high school she attended Belmont Abbey College and graduated in May of 2007, with a degree in Psychology. After graduating from The Abbey, Cat received an internship in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia working for an adoption agency. Once she returned she began working for the Admissions office and has been here ever since working on Data Entry and being the Social Media Coordinator for Belmont Abbey College.
When she is not managing data or coordinating the social media efforts, Cat enjoys traveling, reading, and attending events in Charlotte like the Carolinas Carousel Parade and the Greek Festival. “Check us out on Facebook or Flickr, or better yet, go to the Admissions link and click on the icons!” |

Cova Annison

Born in North Georgia, Cova spent most of her childhood in the Florida sun until her family’s move to Charlotte at age 12. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School and Charlotte Catholic, but home schooled her last years of high school while concentrating on pursuing dance and working with the home schooling community. As she found roots in the Charlotte area, she also fell in love with Belmont Abbey and it became her top choice school. She graduated from the Abbey in 2010 with a B.A. in Educational Studies, after interning as a student teacher on the secondary grade levels. After graduation, she shifted tracks slightly and found interest and excitement in the idea of pursuing future fellow alums. She became an admissions counselor at her own alma mater and is excited to share her love for the Abbey and welcome new Crusaders!

Kelly Williams is a native of Savannah, GA. She recently graduated from the Abbey in 2010. At the Abbey she majored in Theology with a minor in Theatre, receiving the Father John Oetgen Scholarship for Excellence in Theatre. She is the youngest of 6 children and the only girl. She is Aunt Kelly to 8 beautiful nieces and nephews. As an Abbey student, she participated in the Abbey Players, Greek life, Campus Ministry, Intramurals and many other events and projects on campus. She is incredibly excited to be working for her Alma Mater!

Marcus Mayllen

Marcus is a native of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2007 with a degree in International Studies. In 2009, Marcus completed his Masters of Science in Sport Management with a concentration in organizational leadership from California University of Pennsylvania. His professional background includes marketing and staff management for a minor league baseball team and prior admissions counseling experience. Marcus has been in the Charlotte area since the summer of 2010 and joined the Abbey family in April 2011. In his spare time Marcus enjoys keeping active and attending sporting events, as he is a devout follower of all Pittsburgh sports teams (Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, Pitt Panthers.) Marcus is looking forward to an extensive career in higher education and is honored to be working with a great staff in the admissions department at Belmont Abbey.

Lucy grew up in Alpharetta, GA and joined the Abbey team in May 2011. She is one of seven siblings and loves being from a big family. After graduating from Furman University she began her admissions career and moved to Wilson, NC to work at Barton College. Lucy loves guiding families through the admissions process and she looks forward to helping prospective students find a fit at Belmont Abbey!

Courtney Grooms was born and raised near Belmont Abbey. When she was young, she spent many hours of swim practice in the pool that was once here and developed a love of the school. She wanted to spread her wings a bit and went to the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Courtney then spent several years as a recruiter in Boston and has recently come back to the area to join the Belmont Abbey Admissions team. She is excited to manage the Eastern North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana territory!

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Ian spent his first 18 years of life in the Northeast. He attended Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, Connecticut where he learned about and fell in love with Belmont Abbey College. A 2012 graduate with a degree in Business Management in Motorsports, Ian was an involved member of the student body. He was a four-year athlete competing in cross-country and track and field, an altar server at the Abbey Basilica, a brother of the Sigma Alpha Fraternity, President of Belmont Abbey Athletics' SAAC committee, and was crowned the Abbey's Homecoming King in 2011. While attending the Abbey, Ian interned with many well-respected companies in motorsports and continues to announce at local race tracks since graduating. Ian's spare time is spent watching his favorite sports teams compete (New York Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, UCONN Huskies and Carolina Panthers) and of course watching auto racing. Ian is honored to be working at his alma mater and welcoming a new generation of Crusaders!

Daniel Hoffman grew up in Binghamton, NY. A few days after graduating from Chenango Valley High School, he made his way down to the nice weather of Charlotte to attend Belmont Abbey College. He graduated in May of 2012 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During his time at Belmont Abbey, Daniel was very active as a leader of the Campus Activities Board, as well as frequently appearing on stage with the Abbey Players (Belmont Abbey’s theatre group). In high school he was a biology and math tutor for students with Learning Disabilities, ADD, and ADHD at Broome Community College. In his spare time Daniel enjoys watching movies, especially re-watching his favorites, “The Goonies” and “Braveheart”. |
