Study Abroad

Understanding and learning to interact with the people of another culture are among the hallmarks of the educated person. To upperclassmen who are qualified academically, Belmont Abbey College offers a number of options for international study, including language programs, business programs, history programs, and science programs in Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia and other locations through the School for Field Studies (www.fieldstudies.org). Programs offered in the 2005-2006 academic year are below – interested students should be careful to note the application deadlines.

To be eligible for study abroad, a student must have a minimum cumulative average of 2.5, or the permission of the Dean of the Faculty. Participants in the semester programs are selected on a competitive basis. In addition, the College provides students with assistance and advice in selecting other college-approved study abroad programs. Interested students should contact the Dean of the Faculty or the Director of Study Abroad.

Shorter term study abroad courses are also offered, usually during the Summer, by various departments or faculty. For participation in these courses a minimum cumulative average of 2.0, or the permission of the Dean of the Faculty is required.

Limited funds for travel grants are available to interested and qualified students. These travel grants are awarded on a competitive basis. Interested students should fill out the Lowry Travel Grant application and get in touch with Dr. Robert Jones (robertjones@bqc.edu), the Director of Study Abroad.
