Career Expo 2010
Thursday February 25, 2010
10:00AM-2:00PM
Charlotte Convention
Center Charlotte, NC

The best way to make a decision about your post college plans is to have solid information.

Just as you would research what car to buy, which digital camera to purchase, or which iPod is right for you…

You need to become an informed consumer of career options.

The Career Expo provides the opportunity to:
  • See what types of employers hire Liberal Arts college students and graduates;
  • Learn what types of positions are out there for you
  • Meet and Greet representatives from companies
  • Network with employers for future employment opportunities
  • Gain knowledge about the hiring process
  • See which companies are looking for interns

Who knows? You may even get a chance to interview with a company that day!

Internships:
Online Internship/Job/Resume Posting Board

The best way to explore your career options in your major is to undertake an internship experience. Internships provide students with the opportunity to “try-on” different types of careers and employers in a low-risk, high-reward setting.

The real world experience of internships allows you to determine your work values, your interests, and your professional skills. By determining what careers you enjoy, or do not enjoy, you can begin your career development path that will strengthen your candidacy for employment and/or graduate school acceptance.

Internships should be viewed as exploratory, learning opportunities, which will supplement your strong academic program.

To begin the internship process, search the database of available internships, or contact Matt Caporale in the Office of Career Services & Internships.

Weekly Email of Internship & Job Opportunities

The Office of Career Services and Internships produces and distributes a weekly email of available internships, full and part time jobs, volunteer opportunities, and other career and graduate school related events.

All positions are either sent directly to Belmont Abbey College by employers, or are researched by our staff to provide you with access to the “hidden job market”, where most opportunities are found.

The emails keeps you informed of every opportunity Career Services knows about.

To receive the weekly list, stop by the Career Services and Internships office or email careerservices@bac.edu

FOCUS Career Assessment

The first step in the career development process is to assess your personality, interests, skills, faith, and personal values, to determine how they fit in with desired careers. The path to personal and professional success starts with these questions, and will help you decide on careers that provide you with the stability, success, and happiness that are essential to a productive life.

Our FOCUS assessment tool is a web-based program that examines your personality, interests, skills, and values, and provides feedback to begin the career exploration process. The use of the FOCUS system should be accompanied by an appointment with Matt Caporale in Career Services, to fully maximize the experience.
